Stephanie Knott

Stephanie Knott is currently the Director of Music Ministries at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, where she enjoys directing the adult traditional choir, along with the ‘Philabells” handbell ensemble. She also helps with the direction of all musical groups within the greater church, including the Praise Team and Youth Music.

Originally from Gulf Breeze (Pensacola area), Florida, Stephanie attended the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where she studied piano with Dr. Karen Shaw, and belonged to the Hutton Honors College. Stephanie obtained her Master’s degree in piano performance in 2014 from the Uni. of South Carolina. Stephanie was an Accompanying Graduate Assistant for UofSC for 5 years, and was honored to be selected as a member of the SPARK! Collective 2019-20 five-person graduate assistantship position dealing with music collaboration and community outreach with a focus on engaging children. Stephanie worked towards a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at the University of South Carolina as a student of Dr. Charles Fugo, Dr. Marina Lomazov and Dr. Joseph Rackers until 2022. At that time, she left SC and moved up to Charlotte, NC, with her family in order to fill the role of Director of Music Ministries/Organist at Ascension Lutheran Church of Charlotte.

Stephanie taught a private piano studio of over 30 students in the greater Columbia area through the Columbia Arts Academy and Freeway Music from 2013-2016.  She has attended Brevard Music Center as both a high school participant and a college participant/Resident Assistant.  She also attended Eastern Music Festival located in Greensboro, NC in the summer of 2006, where she was awarded a scholarship to return the next summer.

Stephanie now resides in the Plaza Midwood area of Charlotte with her musical five-year-old daughter, Ivy, and their spirited kitten, Daisy.
