Nominating Committee

OUR MISSION
Growing the Kingdom of God by spreading the Good News, serving the least among us, working for justice and teaching future generations.

 OUR VISION
As we journey together, as a part of the Body of Christ, our vision is to bless others as we have been blessed.

CHURCH LEADERSHIP IS A CALLING
Church leadership is a calling to servant-based ministries. The Congregational Nominating Committee (CNC) of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church is tasked to discern who in our congregation are specially gifted and graced to serve in various positions of ordained leadership. The current CNC seeks members of the congregation for the offices of Elder and Deacon.

You may nominate yourself or another church member to serve as an Elder, Deacon,  keeping in mind that nominees shall:
CHAMPION the church’s Mission and Vision statements.
ATTEND church regularly.
DEMONSTRATE a servant’s heart.
INVITE and WELCOME others into the church family.
COMMIT to stewardship of their time, talents, and treasure.

ELDERS: MEMBERS OF THE SESSION (Governing Body of PPC)
Serve for a three-year term, with monthly meetings.
Oversee the church's spiritual life, policy decisions, property management, and finances.
Function as the congregational authority on church matters.
Assist as needed in church services by ushering, serving communion, and/or passing the offering plate.
Participate on a committee in the church.

DEACONS: MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DEACONS
Serve for a three-year term, with monthly meetings.
Give compassionate care to members with immediate or more long-term needs.
Serve as a liaison between the District (a group of families in the congregation) to which they are assigned and the pastoral  staff.
Assist as needed in church services by ushering, serving communion, and/or passing the offering plate.
Nurture fellowship within the church by serving on the Board’s Congregational Life sub-committee or supporting other church committees as they are able.

One more thing. And it’s a BIG thing! The Presbyterian Church isn’t a staff-run church. It’s led by people like you, with a staff to support you. This representative system of governance has been part of our denomination’s DNA since its inception and is the foundation for how we do things today. Join us in leading and serving God’s people!
