Pastor Katie Perkins Sloan

ASSOCIATE PASTOR, CP

Katie grew up in Massachusetts, in the historic city of Newburyport, where the mouth of the Merrimac River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. She learned how to walk on the sandy beaches of Plum Island, so it’s no wonder she feels most at home near the water. Katie family roots run deep in the Presbyterian church having been raised one of the oldest Presbyterian churches in New England –the Old South Presbyterian. She has lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for more than 28 years, but she will always be a New Englander at heart. Here at PPC, Katie focuses on connectionism and communication and how we live that out inside and outside the walls of the church as faithful disciples of Christ. She believes in reaching people right where they are, through her preaching and teaching.  Katie is passionate about walking along side members and those in the community during the joys and hurts in their life. She believes one of the greatest gifts you can give someone is to listen with the heart of Jesus – because everyone is worthy and everyone has something they can teach us. One of the highlights of her week is chapel with the preschool. Katie has three grown stepchildren. She loves a good cup of coffee, all genres of music, New England sports teams (sorry Carolina fans), and on her day off she can be found fishing, reading, or experimenting in the kitchen.
